The new United World Wrestling men’s Greco-Roman rankings for July 2015 are now available.
There are four American men ranked among the top 20 Greco-Roman wrestlers in the world at their weight class.
The U.S. Greco-Roman wrestlers competed in the U.S. Greco-Roman World Team Trials event in Ithaca, N.Y. in early June. The scheduled Curby Cup event was cancelled due to the inability to get visas for the Iranian team.
The only American with a top 10 ranking is 2014 World Team member Joe Rau (Minneapolis, Minn./Minnesota Storm), who came in at 80 kg/176 lbs. Rau dropped four spots from last month. He did not compete in June, because he did not qualify for the 2015 Greco-Roman World Team Trials event.
For the third straight month, Jordan Holm retained the No. 12 spot at 85 kg/185 lbs. Holm won his weight class at the World Team Trials, and will attend his third straight World Championships.
The next U.S. wrestler is two-time Olympian Spenser Mango (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army WCAP), who was No. 13 at 59 kg/130 lbs. Mango dropped two spots. He won the World Team Trials event. Mango, who was fifth at the last two World Championships, has made the U.S. World or Olympic Team for the eighth straight year.
Robby Smith moved down one spot to No. 19 at 130 kg/286 lbs. Smith also won the World Team Trials, making his third straight U.S. World Team.
