NEW DELHI, India – Both American women competing in the Indian Professional Wrestling League saw action, as Adeline Gray’s Mumbai team defeated Alyssa Lampe’s Bengaluru team, 5-2, in the first semifinal match of the league’s inaugural season.

This was a rematch of the dual meet from December 14, won by Mumbai 5-2, which was held in Ludhiana.

Gray, a three-time World champion, scored a first period 10-0 technical fall over Navjot Kaur at 69 kg +. Kaur was fifth at the 2012 World Championships at 67 kg and was third at the 2014 Commonwealth Games

On December 14 dual meet, Gray was dominant, scoring a first-period 10-0 technical fall over Kaur. Gray is now a perfect 6-0 in her matches during the India PWL.

Lampe, a two-time World bronze medalist, lost to two-time Junior World medalist Ritu Phogat, 10-4 at 48 kg. Lampe led Phogat 4-0 at the break, but Phogat reeled off 10 unanswered points in the second period. In the December 14 dual meet, Phogat also defeated Lampe, 9-6.

Lampe now has a 2-3 record in this year’s India PWL.

Gray serves as captain of the talented Mumbai team, which was the only undefeated squad in the six-team league during the regular season. After going 5-0 in the dual meet portion of the year, Mumbai has won its sixth straight dual meet.

The second semifinals match is set for December 26 in New Delhi, as Punjab, with a 3-2 record will face Haryana, which also went 3-2. These two teams met recently, when Punjab beat Haryana 5-2 in New Delhi on December 22.

Mumbai now awaits the winner of the Punjab vs. Haryana match. The championship dual meet is set for December 27 in New Delhi.

This is the first year of the India Professional Wrestling League, which is scheduled for December 10-27. There are six teams in the league, and a dual meet was held every night of the season for the 18 days.
