World bronze medalist Bisek tops U.S. athletes in December UWW Greco-Roman rankings at No. 5

2014 and 2015 World bronze medalist Andy Bisek (Colorado Springs, Colo./Minnesota Storm) is the top American in the UWW World Greco-Roman rankings for December 2015, with a No. 5 ranking at 75 kg/165 lbs.


Bisek placed eighth in the UWW Golden Grand Prix Finals in Baku, Azerbaijan in November, his only competition since winning his bronze medal at the 2015 World Championships in Las Vegas.


Two veteran American wrestling stars come in at No. 7 in the rankings, two-time World bronze medalist Justin Lester (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army WCAP) at 71 kg and three-time U.S. World Team member Robby Smith (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) at 130 kg/286 lbs.


Lester, who was eighth at the 2015 World Championships, has competed twice this fall, winning a silver medals at both the CISM Military World Games in Mungyeong, Korea in October and Bill Farrell International in New York City in November. Lester competed up at 75 kg/165 lbs. in both events.


Smith, who has placed fifth in the World Championships two of the last three years, competed at the UWW Golden Grand Prix Finals in Azerbaijan, but did not earn a placement there.


There are eight wrestlers from the United States who have earned a Top 20 ranking during December.


Three other 2015 U.S. World Team members are ranked: Bryce Saddoris (Camp LeJeune, N.C./U.S. Marine Corps), who is No. 16 at 66 kg/145.5 lbs., Spenser Mango (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army WCAP), who is No. 19 at 59 kg/130 lbs. and Caylor Williams (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army WCAP), who is No. 20 at 98 kg/215 lbs.


Mango has wrestled in three events since the Worlds, winning a gold medal at the Bill Farrell International in New York City, taking a bronze medals at the Vantaa Cup and the Haavisto Cup, both held in Finland in November.


Williams also appeared in the same three events as Mango, winning a silver medal at the Bill Farrell International, a bronze medal at the Vantaa Cup and placing fifth at the Haavisto Cup.


Saddoris, who was injured in his final match at the World Championships, has not competed since.


The other two Americans with rankings are Joe Rau (Minneapolis, Minn./Minnesota Storm), who is No. 19 at 98 kg/215 lbs. and Jon Anderson (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army), who is No. 20 at 85 kg/187 lbs.


Rau has competed twice this fall, winning a gold medal at the Bill Farrell International and a 10th place at the UWW Golden Grand Prix Finals. Anderson was also a gold medalist at the Bill Farrell International, a silver medalist at the Haavisto Cup and did not earn a medal at the Vantaa Cup.
