Illinois Outsiders win NWCA/USA Wrestling National Scholastic Duals in Indiana

Team Illinois poses after winning title at the NWCA/USA Wrestling National Scholastic Duals
CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - Illinois captured the championship of the 2015 NWCA/USA Wrestling National Scholastic Duals, as the Illinois Outsiders defeated Minnesota Elite 35-15 in the deciding match.
Highlighting the final round was a bout of nationally ranked wrestlers. Illinois's Austin O'Connor was awarded the Outstanding Wrestler Award after defeating Minnesota's Mitchell McKee at 132 pounds, 12-4.
Illinois posted a 7-0 record in the two day event held April 10 and 11 at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
Minnesota edged third place Indiana Gold, 25-23, in the sixth round. Also advancing to the championship pool, Ohio placed fourth, Illinois Inferno placed fifth (topping 4th seeded Virginia in an early match) and Team Colorado placed sixth.
The Sportsmanship Award, selected the event's referees, was given to Team Virginia. Twenty two teams competed in the two day event.
