2013 World champion Adeline Gray leads a group of three U.S. women into action at the World Championships on Thursday.
Three more U.S. women’s freestyle wrestlers have weighed in and received draws at the 2014 World Wrestling Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan
2012 World champion Adeline Gray (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) will compete at 75 kg/165 lbs., and opens with Zhou Qian of China.
A three-time World medalist, Gray also won World bronze medals in 2011 and 2013. She was also fifth in the World Championships in 2009.
“Adeline sets the highest goals, as she should and has deserved. She knows what it takes to get that medal and be on the platform at the World stage. She has prepared herself in every way that she can. She is ready and willing to take some risk and get the job done,” said Assistant National Coach Erin Tomeo.
The other two team members are competing in their second Senior World Championships, Whitney Conder (Colorado Springs, Colo./Army WCAP) at 53 kg/116.5 lbs. and Alli Ragan (Colorado Springs, Colo./NYAC) at 58 kg/128 lbs.
Conder opens with Tatiana Debien of France, who was seventh in the 2012 World University Championships.
Conder is a past Junior World champion, taking gold back in 2007. Her previous Senior World Championships was in 2011.
Ragan kicks it off against Aisylyy Tynbekova of Kyrgyzstan, seventh in 2013 World Championships.
Ragan was ninth in the 2013 Senior World Championships and has also won two Junior World bronze medals. She won two WCWA college national titles for King University.
