Victoria Anthony advances to finals at Pan American Championships

MEXICO CITY - American Victoria Anthony recorded three straight falls to advance to the finals of the Pan American Championships on Wednesday.
Anthony, a two-time Junior World champion, advances to face World champion Jessica MacDonald of Canada in the women's freestyle finals at 48 kg/105.5 lbs. Anthony placed fifth at the 2013 Senior World Championships.
MacDonald beat Anthony 10-0 in the semifinals of the Dave Schultz Memorial International earlier this year.
The finals are set for 6 p.m. Central Time in Mexico City.
U.S. wrestlers Haley Augello (53 kg/116.5 lbs.), Cheyenne Youngblood (60 kg/132 lbs.), Julia Salata (69 kg/152 lbs.) and Victoria Francis (75 kg/165 lbs.) have landed spots in bronze-medal matches.
The Pan American Championships freestyle tournament will be held on Thursday. Olympic gold medalist and two-time World champion Jordan Burroughs is among the U.S. wrestlers scheduled to compete.
