Mason Manville receives draw for Greco-Roman competition at Youth Olympic Games

The first day of wrestling is set to begin at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games as Mason Manville will kick things off for the United States squad, competing at 69 kg/152 lbs. in the Greco-Roman division on Monday.
Manville is one of eight athletes competing at 69 kg/152 lbs. in Nanjing, China tomorrow. He has had a banner year in 2014 being crowned FILA Cadet World Champion in freestyle this July in Snina, Slovakia. He also won gold in both styles at the 2014 Cadet Pan American Championships and FILA Cadet Nationals, in addition to winning a Junior National Championship in Fargo, N.D. mere days after winning Cadet World gold.
Wrestlers in each weight class of the Youth Olympic Games have been separated into two pools of four, and will wrestle a round-robin style bracket in the morning session. The winners of each pool will wrestle for the gold medal in the evening session beginning at 5:00 p.m. local time/5:00 a.m. EST.
Manville will face Jordan Marshall of New Zealand, Nilton Soto of Peru and Karan Mosebach of Germany in the pool rounds tomorrow morning.
The biggest threat to the American standout is Mosebach, who earned silver at the 2014 European Championships in Greco-Roman and finished 13th overall at the Cadet Greco-Roman World Championships this year.
Marshall won the 2014 Cadet Oceania Championships in both freestyle and Greco-Roman in March.
Soto finished in eighth place in the 2013 Cadet Pan American Championships in both styles.
The four athletes competing in the opposite pool at 69 kg/152 lbs. are Cadet Mediterranean Championships bronze medalist Omar Ibrahim of Egypt, Cadet Asian Champion Yevgeniy Polivadov of Kazakhstan, Cadet World bronze medalist and European Champion Islambek Dadov of Azerbaijan and Cadet Asian Championships silver medalist Abubakr Alimov of Uzbekistan.
