The Russian Wrestling Federation reported on its website wrestrus.ru that the late Besik Kudukhov will not lose his 2012 Olympic silver medal in freestyle wrestling.
A two paragraph statement was posted on the website, in which Georgy Bryusov of the Russian Federation was quoted that an IOC Disciplinary Committee set up to consider the case has decided to terminate its inquiry into the matter.
It had been reported that Kudukhov, who died in an automobile accident, had tested positive for the banned substance Turinabol when his London sample had been retested.
The international media reported the Russian Wrestling Federation statement on Monday. It was covered extensively in India, as there was interest into whether Olympic bronze medalist Yogeshwar Dutt of India might receive a silver medal if Kudukhov’s medal was stripped by the IOC.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will not strip the late Besik Kudukhov of the silver medal he won at London 2012, the Russian Wrestling Federation (RWF) have claimed.
Kudukhov was second in the 60 kilograms freestyle category at the Games in the British capital, with the Russian losing to Azerbaijan's Toghrul Asgarov in the final.
He was then tragically killed in a car crash in southern Russia in December 2013, before reports emerged this year that he had posthumously tested positive for a banned substance during a retrospective drugs test.

INDIAN EXPRESS: Yogeshwar Dutt’s 2012 London Olympics bronze won’t be upgraded to silver
Yogeshwar Dutt’s chances of having his London Olympics medal upgraded from bronze to silver vanished on Monday after the International Olympic Committee decided to drop an investigation into a deceased wrestler who allegedly tested positive for a banned steroid when an old sample was retested.
Russia’s Besik Kudukhov won the silver medal in the men’s freestyle 60kg category at the 2012 Olympics and died the following year in a car crash. In a statement, the Russian Wrestling Federation said his sample from the 2012 Games was retested this year and found to be positive for the steroid turinabol.
His case was passed to a three-member IOC disciplinary commission, comprising Denis Oswald of Switzerland, Sweden’s Gunilla Lindberg and Ugur Erdener from Turkey. On October 19, the committee decided to terminate the investigation against Kudukhov, the statement added.
