The weigh-ins have been held and the seeds have been established for men’s freestyle at the U.S. Non-Olympic Weights World Team Trials, which will be held on Friday.
Competition will be held at 61 kg/134 lbs. and 70 kg/154 lbs. The winners in these weight classes will compete for the United States at the Non-Olympic Weight World Championships in Budapest, Hungary on December 10-11.
Earning the top seed at 61 kg/134 lbs. is Logan Stieber (Columbus, Ohio/Titan Mercury WC/Ohio RTC), the four-time NCAA champion and past Junior World silver medalist.
Based upon the Trials procedures approved in men’s freestyle, 2015 World bronze medalist James Green (Lincoln, Neb./Titan Mercury WC) advances directly to the Championship Series at 70 kg/154 lbs.
The No. 1 seed in the Challenge Tournament at 70 kg/154 lbs. is Jordan Oliver (Tempe, Ariz./Sunkist Kids) who has been on the USA Freestyle National Team, ranked as high as No. 2 on the ladder.
All of the athletes who have weighed in received a seed and were placed in the bracket based on that seed.
The winners of the semifinals in each weight class will advance to the best-of-three championship series, with the winner earning the World Team berth.
It will be held alongside the Bill Farrell Memorial International, which will include action in the six Olympic weight classes and features wrestlers from a number of different nations.
Competition will be held on Friday at the New York Athletic Club, in the sixth-floor gymnasium. Preliminaries are set for 10:00 a.m., with the finals starting at 6:30 p.m. All of the action will be broadcast live on Flowrestling.
Greco-Roman weighs in Friday and competes Saturday.
