U.S. to send young talents to Pan American Cadet Championships in Lima, Peru, July 1-3

The United States is sending a talented team of athletes from across the nation to compete in the Pan American Cadet Championships, set for Lima, Peru, July 1-3. The UWW Cadet age group includes athletes who are 15-17 years old.
The U.S. men will compete in both freestyle and Greco-Roman. All of those on the Pan American Cadet Team were high placewinners at the UWW Cadet Nationals in Akron, Ohio earlier this year.
Among the runners-up at the UWW Cadet Nationals in Greco-Roman competing in Peru are Andrew Chambal of Michigan at 42 kg, Cevion Severado of Missouri at 46 kg, Jack Karstetter of Oklahoma at 58 kg and Calvin Germinaro of Minnesota at 63 kg. In addition, runners-up in the UWW Cadet Nationals in freestyle on this team are Dylan D’Emilio of Ohio at 50 kg, Michael Beard of Pennsylvania at 85 kg and Noah Adams of West Virginia at 100 kg.
Placing in both styles in Akron were Chambral and Adams, plus Tyler Dow of Wisconsin at 69 kg and Jake Hendricks of Pennsylvania at 76 kg.
The women’s freestyle team features members of the 2016-17 USA Wrestling Women’s UWW Cadet National Team, which was determined at the Body Bar UWW Cadet Nationals in Texas earlier this year. Caitlyn Walker of Pennsylvania was a gold medalist at the Body Bar Nationals at 38 kg.
Eight of the team members competing at the Pan American Cadet Championships were runners-up at the Body Bar Nationals: Tory Marrufo of Texas at 40 kg, Kaitlyn Pizzo of Michigan at 43 kg, Emily Shilson of Minnesota at 46 kg, Stefana Jelecic of Arizona at 49 kg, Cameron Guerin of Washington at 52 kg, Cierra Foster of Idaho at 56 kg, Breanna Douglas of Kansas at 60 kg and Jayden Laurent of Wisconsin at 65 kg.
