Mongolia lineup announced for Freestyle Wrestling World Cup in Los Angeles, Calif., June 11-12

The wrestling federation of Mongolia has provided its lineup for the 2016 Men’s Freestyle Wrestling World Cup at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., June 11-12.


The World Cup is the annual international dual meet championships, and will feature the top eight men’s freestyle wrestling teams in the world.


The Mongolian team will be led by two-time World bronze medalist Mandakhnaran Ganzorig at 65 kg/143 lbs. Ganzorig was third in the 2013 and 2014 World Championships. Other major titles came with gold medals at the 2010 Asian Games, the 2014 World Military Championships and the 2014 UWW Golden Grand Prix finals.


2015 World silver medalist Urunbat Purevjav will compete at 74 kg/163 lbs. He was a 2012 Olympian, and was second in the 2008 and 2014 Asian Championships.


2015 World bronze medalist Bekhbayar Erdenebat is entered at 57 kg/125.5 lbs. Erdenbat was a 2012 Junior World champion and a 2015 Asian champion. He was also fifth at the 2014 World Championships.


Two athletes with World-level titles include 2014 University World champion Tuvshintulga Tumenbileg at 61 kg/134 lbs. and 2014 World Military champion Uitumen Orgodol at 86 kg/189 lbs. Orgodol was also a 2012 Olympian.


Heavyweight Chuluunbat Jargalsaikhan placed seventh in the 2012 Olympic Games, He has won six medals at either the Asian Championships or the Asian Games. His top finish at the World Championships was fifth back in 2011.


Mongolia placed fourth at the 2015 World Championships, which were held in Las Vegas, Nev. Mongolia also placed fifth at the 2015 World Cup in Los Angeles.


The eight nations which will compete for the World Cup are (alphabetically) Azerbaijan, Georgia, India, Iran, Mongolia, Russia, Turkey and the United States. Nations were invited based upon final team standings at the 2015 World Championships.


Mongolia has drawn into Group A, where it will face Russia, Georgia and Turkey.


The 2014 and 2015 Freestyle World Cup were also held in Los Angeles, with Iran winning the team title both years. The United States was second at the 2015 World Cup and third at the 2014 World Cup.
