Helen Maroulis, shown at the 2015 World Championships, remains No. 1 in the UWW World rankings.
2016 U.S. Olympians Adeline Gray (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) and Helen Maroulis (Huntington Beach, Calif./Sunkist Kids), remained on top of the United World Wrestling rankings for the month of June.
Both won their matches against Canadian opponents at the Beat the Streets United in the Square dual in Times Square in New York City in May. Maroulis pinned Samantha Stewart and Gray had a dominant win over Justina Distasio.
Gray, a three-time World champion, is ranked No. 1 at 72 kg/165 lbs., her normal weight class, while Maroulis is ranked No. 1 at 55 kg/121 lbs., the weight class where she won her 2015 World title. Maroulis will compete at the Rio Games at 53 kg/116.5 lbs.
They are the only U.S. women who are ranked by UWW who competed in May.
The other two U.S. women who will compete in the Rio Olympic Games are also in the rankings, No. 12 Elena Pirozkhova (Colorado Springs, Colo. (Titan Mercury WC) at 69 kg/152 lbs. and No. 15 Haley Augello (Lockport, Ill./New York AC/OTC) at No. 15 at 48 kg. Like Maroulis, Pirozhkova is competing at a different weight class than where she is ranked, as she will compete at 63 kg/138.75 lbs. for the second straight Olympics.
2015 World bronze medalist Leigh Jaynes-Provisor, Colorado Springs, Colo. (U.S. Army WCAP/OTC) is ranked No. 12 at 60 kg/132 lbs., the weight where she won her bronze medal.
