United World Wrestling awards final four allocations for 2016 Olympic Games

CORSIER-SUR-VEVEY, Switzerland (July 15) – United World Wrestling, working with Tripartite Commission of the International Olympic Committee, has released the final four Olympic allocations for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The Tripartite Commission typically reserves the allocations for host nations with fewer than four qualifiers, however Brazil qualified five wrestlers for the Games – a record for the South American nation – triggering their redistribution.
‘This process reflects very well on the progress we’ve made to grow our sport around the world,” said United World Wrestling president Nenad Lalovic. “We are encouraged by the gains made by the Brazilian Wrestling Federation, and also excited to welcome four more nations to our Olympic competition.”
Peru (58kg) and Czech Republic (63kg) picked up Olympic tickets in women’s wrestling, while Austria (85kg) and Croatia (75kg) earned their allocations in Greco-Roman.
The National Olympic Committees of these countries, along with all other qualified nations, will submit the final list of participating wrestlers on July 18th.
