USA Wrestling has posted two job opportunities for coaches within its Freestyle wrestling program and will be accepting applications for these two positions right away.


The job description for each of these two positions are posted below:

Position: National University and Senior Developmental Coach

Reports to
: National Freestyle Head Coach

Position Summary: USA Wrestling is seeking a highly motivated coach with a proven track record of success to lead Freestyle Senior and University aged athletes. The National University and Senior Developmental Coach is the chief liaison to USA Wrestling’s Regional Training Centers and is responsible for recruiting and developing top University and Senior athletes.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, and coordinate the National Team competition and training plan focusing on National Team individuals and the broader National Team equally.

• Focus on the continued development and growth of the USAW’s Regional Training Centers.

o Direct, organize, and coordinate RTC training opportunities.

o Communicate consistently with all National Team stakeholders.

o Work closely with personal coaches and the Head National Freestyle Coach to develop individual training and competition plans.

o Communicate closely and consistently with Regional Training Center (RTC) Coaches and athletes.

• Coordinate and lead the University World Team.

• Assist National Freestyle Head Coach in the development of a 4-year High-Performance Plan for each Olympic Quadrennium.

• Help the National Freestyle Head Coach develop and maintain annual budgets.

• Work with National Coach in implementing and coordinating all National Team Training Camps.

• Assist the Developmental Coach in directing the OTC Resident Program (as needed, based on travel schedules).

• Identify potential opportunities for external funding and assist in other fundraising opportunities as directed by the National Freestyle Head Coach.

• Other duties as assigned.

Position: National Freestyle Development and Resident Coach

Reports to
: National Freestyle Head Coach

Position Summary: USA Wrestling is seeking a highly motivated coach with a proven track record of success to lead Freestyle age-group development throughout the United States. The National Freestyle Developmental Coach is responsible for the recruitment, development, and training of our country’s top Schoolboys, Cadets and Juniors.

Responsibilities:

• Direct and manage the OTC Elite Junior Resident Program

o Recruit and develop top Junior athletes from within the USAW pipeline

o Develop and implement yearly competition and training schedule

• Coordinate and lead USA Wrestling’s Schoolboy, Cadet and Junior World Teams.

• Assist the National Freestyle Coach in development and implementation of a national talent identification program.

• Work closely with USAW state chapters in regards to talent identification, athlete development as well as sport and membership growth.

• Work with USA Wrestling staff, coaches, athletes, and volunteer coaches to advance freestyle developmental programs.

• Maintain consistent communication with all freestyle stakeholders, including athletes, coaches, volunteers, and officials.

• Identify potential opportunities for external funding and assist in other fundraising opportunities as directed by the National Freestyle Head Coach.

• Work with the Freestyle National Team Coaches and National Coaches Education Manager to improve the freestyle and folkstyle portion of USA Wrestling’s Core Curriculum Series.

• Recruit, cultivate, and support the freestyle volunteer coaching pool.

• Represent USA Wrestling at international coaching clinics and conduct domestic grassroots promotional activities.

• Train and recruit youth coaches to incorporate age-group developmental best practices at their clubs.

• Work closely with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) Sports Performance Staff to apply sports science principles to the sport of wrestling.

• Assist in execution and development of a recruiting program aimed at drawing top-level NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA athletes to freestyle wrestling.

• Develop and coordinate local, regional, national, and international training opportunities for Schoolboys, Cadets and Juniors.

• Assist the National Freestyle Head Coach in the development of a 4-year High-Performance Plan for each Olympic Quadrennium.

• Assist the National Freestyle Head Coach in developing and maintaining annual budgets.

• Other duties as assigned.
