New York, N.Y. – Olympic wrestling played a prominent role in many of the activities which were a part of the U.S. Olympic Committee’s 100 Days Out Celebration in historic Times Square on Wednesday.

2016 U.S. Olympic wrestlers Jordan Burroughs, Adeline Gray and Kyle Snyder were among the 75 Team USA athletes at the event, and there was a live wrestling demonstration for fans to enjoy all three styles of Olympic wrestling.

The morning started with the NBC Today Show, as Burroughs, Gray and Snyder were among the Olympic athletes who were featured on the show.

Burroughs, a 2012 Olympic champion in men’s freestyle, Olympic silver medalist Haley Anderson (marathon swimming) and 11-time Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte (swimming) debuted Polo Ralph Lauren's signature U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Closing Ceremony parade uniforms for the Rio 2016 Games during a fashion segment on the NBC Today Show.

The day also included a special press conference which also featured First Lady Michelle Obama, who was there to express her commitment to get more American children active in support of her Let’s Move! Initiative to solve the problem of childhood obesity.

It was wrestling hero Jordan Burroughs who introduced First Lady Michelle Obama as part of the formal press conference activities.

For the next few hours, Burroughs, Gray and Snyder were interviewed by a variety of national and local media in attendance. All three of them were very busy, telling their story and talking about Olympic wrestling. There was also an opportunity for the general public to meet these athletes, get autographs and spend time with wrestling heroes, as well as other top stars from a variety of Summer Olympic sports.

The live wrestling demonstration featured three matches, one in each of the Olympic styles. Three-time World champion Adeline Gray, 2015 World champion Kyle Snyder, and Burroughs, all 2016 Olympians, were on the microphone announcing the action during the wrestling demonstration bouts.

Two of the nation’s best women’s freestyle wrestlers competed, with 2016 U.S. Open champion Amanda Hendey of the Titan Mercury WC defeating Cadet and Junior World medalist Kayla Miracle of the Sunkist Kids, 9-6. Both were fourth in the recent U.S. Olympic Team Trials. Hendey was a star at King University, and Miracle is a current star for Campbellsville University.

Four members of the Army West Point wrestling team competed in men’s bouts. In Greco-Roman, NCAA qualifier Samson Imonode (Phoenix, AZ) scored a pin over Tony Risaliti (Ebensburg, PA). In men’s freestyle, Logan Everett (Tioga, PA) defeated Lincoln Mallinger (Champlin, MN), 13-4.

With 100 days before the Olympic Games begin in Rio de Janeiro, the U.S. Olympic family celebrated in one of the world’s most famous locations and wrestlers were center stage. Check out USA Wrestling’s social media platforms for more images from this exciting activity.

Adeline Gray will return to Times Square on May 19, to compete in the Beat the Streets “United in the Square” event, where she will wrestle Canadian star Justina Di Stasio in a featured women’s bout.
