Noah Adams (Coal City, W.V./Independence) has been selected as TheMat.com Athlete of the Week on July 5, 2016.

Over the weekend, Adams picked up Greco-Roman and freestyle gold medals at the Cadet Pan American Championships held in Lima, Peru. Moreover, Adams was instrumental in the U.S. winning first place as a team in both styles.

Competing at 100 kg/220 lbs., Adams won six total matches across both styles, four by technical fall, on his road to double gold. He outscored his opponents by a combined 54-0 margin. Adams was awarded the Golden Boot as the Outstanding Wrestler of the men’s freestyle competition.

One month ago Adams earned double All-American honors at the UWW Cadet Nationals in Akron, Ohio where he finished third in Greco-Roman and second in freestyle. Adams also picked up two All-American honors at the Cadet Nationals held in Fargo, N.D. last summer.

Wrestling for Independence High School, Adams is a two-time West Virginia state champion and three-time state place-winner. He has also earned top prize at several tough national events including FloNationals and NHSCA Nationals.
