Jacob Naig (Emmetsburg, Iowa/Wartburg College) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for Dec. 30-Jan. 5.

Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.
Naig was named Outstanding Wrestler as he led the Wartburg Knights to the team title at Cornell College's Matman Invitational on Jan. 4 in Mount Vernon, Iowa.
Naig, one of seven champions for the top-ranked Knights, went 5-0 in the event at 149 pounds. Naig, a senior, won three matches by fall and one by technical fall.
Naig, a returning NCAA Division III champion and two-time national finalist, is 8-0 this season and has won his last 44 matches. He placed second in the nation in 2006 and was sixth in 2005.
Naig's brother, J.D., was a three-time NCAA Division II champion for Nebraska-Omaha.
