Pennsylvania Blue, Missouri, California, Ohio Blue win preliminary pools in freestyle at 16U Women’s National Duals

WESTFIELD, Ind. – Pennsylvania Blue (Pool A), Missouri (Pool B), California (Pool C), and Ohio Blue (Pool D) won their preliminary pools on day one at the 2025 16U Women’s National Duals at Grand Park Events Center in Westfield, Indiana.
Pennsylvania Blue defeated Wisconsin, 44-27, advancing to the Gold/Silver pool. Four athletes secured falls in the dual for Pennsylvania Blue – Ashley Hoffman (190), Brooklyn Henry (95), Marlee Solomon (115) and Emma Grimes (125). Wisconsin claimed three victories by fall in the dual from Erika Sleznikow (135), Alisha Berg (170), Mercedes Kruse (207).
In Pool B, Missouri earned a 40-35 victory over Illinois to advance. Nine wins went to Missouri, including four falls, four technical falls and one decision. Athena Anderson (140), Kamryn Bourbon (155), Brooklyn Baczek (235) and Lilly McCleary (115) added falls for Missouri in the dual.
The Pool C winner was California, who bested Texas Blue, 44-32. Ten wins went to California in the dual, backed by pins from Julie Cimarusti (140), Symone Jewell (155), Angie Roman (235) and Noemi Cordero (115).
Ohio Blue downed Iowa in the Pool D championship dual, 43-31. Seven of Ohio Blue’s nine wins were by fall. Lillian Hendricks (140), Isabelle Ramirez (190), Hailey Oloshove-Burle (207), Kenly Muzykoski (95), Aniya Polk (105), Cameron Leng (120) and Carolyn Geckler (125) contributed bonus points to Ohio Blue’s score by fall.
The top two teams in each pool advanced to the Gold/Silver Pool, which will determine the top eight teams in the tournament. Wisconsin, Texas Blue and Iowa advanced as runners-up in their preliminary pools. Pool B had a true second place dual, with Illinois defeating Michigan, 54-22.
Color pool competition continues on Friday morning at 9 a.m. in Westfield, Indiana. The championship finals and placement matches are set for 2 p.m. The competition concludes with Greco-Roman action on Saturday.
