Over 100 already registered for World Team Trials Challenge Tournament; 13 added to field after changing weight class

Registration is open for the 2023 Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament in Colorado Springs, Colo., May 20-21, and there are already more than 100 registered entries for the competition.
The winner in each of the 17 weight classes being conducted will earn a spot in their weight class at Final X in Newark, N.J., June 10. Each of these athletes will compete in Final X in a best-of-three series against the 2023 U.S. Open champion, with the winner at Final X earning a berth on the 2023 U.S. Senior World Team which will compete in Belgrade, Serbia, September 16-24.
There are 13 wrestlers new to this qualifiers list, who have competed at a different weight class than the 17 being contested in Colorado Springs, but have met the required achievements in order to try out for the team at one of the weight classes being contested.
Among those who are 2021-22 Senior National Team members who are entering at a different weight class at the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament are the following:
• Zahid Valencia (Sunkist Kids), entered at 92 kg in men’s freestyle
• Alexandra Hedrick (Titan Mercury WC), entered at 59 kg in women’s freestyle
• Jennifer Page (Titan Mercury WC), entered at 59 kg in women’s freestyle
• Emma Bruntil (Titan Mercury WC), entered at 68 kg in women’s freestyle
• Marilyn Garcia (California), entered at 68 kg in women’s freestyle
• Skylar Grote (New Jersey), entered at 76 kg in women’s freestyle
Among those registered to compete in Greco-Roman are 2018 World silver medalist Adam Coon (130 kg), two-time Olympians Ildar Hafizov (60 kg) and Ben Provisor (82 kg) and Olympians Jesse Thielke (67 kg), Alejandro Sancho (67 kg), Aliaksandr Kikiniou (77 kg) and John Stefanowicz (87 kg).
In women’s freestyle, those registered include Olympic silver medalist and six-time World champion Adeline Gray, World champion Jacarra Winchester (55 kg) and Senior World Team members Maya Nelson (59 kg), Abigail Nette (59 kg) and Dymond Guilford (76 kg).
In men’s freestyle, those registered include Senior World medalists Daton Fix (61 kg), Joe Colon (61 kg) and Nick Gwiazdowski (125 kg), along with Senior World Team member Seth Gross (61 kg).
The deadline for registration is May 19, so we can expect some additional athletes to register. All must meet qualification standards as set by the the World Team Selection Procedures
