Beach Wrestling set for Fargo week: July 14 (youth/adult), July 16 (women Junior/16U), July 20 (men Junior/16U)

For the second straight year, Beach Wrestling has been added as part of the competition week alongside the USMC Junior/16U Nationals in Fargo, N.D.


The 2023 Fargo Summer Showcase and Junior/16U Beach Nationals will be hosted on three separate days in Fargo, opening up an opportunity for any of the 7,000 wrestlers entered in competition in the FargoDome, as well as any other age-eligible athletes who wish to compete.


All three days of Beach Wrestling will be at Gastropub Volleyball, which is located at 3234 43rd St S., Fargo, ND 58104.


The first day of Beach Wrestling competition is Friday, July 14, which is the day prior to the start of the USMC Junior/16U Nationals. The athletes competing that day are youth wrestlers (8U, 10U, 12U, 14U), as well as Senior and Masters Beach wrestlers. Weigh-ins are set for 6:00 p.m., with competition slated to begin at 8:00 p.m.


The next day of Beach Wrestling competition will be Sunday, July 16, which will feature 16U and Junior women’s Beach wrestling. Check in will be 2:30 p.m. (weight will be taken from Junior/16U Nationals) with wrestling to start at 3:00 p.m.


The final day of Beach wrestling competition will be Thursday, July 20, which will feature 16U and Junior men’s Beach wrestling. This is the off-day between the men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman tournaments in Fargo. Check in will be at 8:30 a.m. (weight will be taken from Junior/16U Nationals) with wrestling to start at 9:00 a.m.


Registration is open for all three days of Beach Wrestling competition. Athletes who know they will compete are encouraged to register now. Those who decide to compete while in Fargo are also encouraged to do so once they decide to attend, or come out for registration/check in.

This was a big success last summer, as Beach Wrestling made its debut during USA Wrestling week in Fargo. This year is expected to be bigger and better.


Beach wrestling is fun. It is also a challenge, where wrestlers must test their skills in new ways. Give Beach Wrestling a try this year in Fargo.

Friday, July 14th

Beach Wrestling: Age Division: 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, Senior, Masters (men and women)


6:00 pm - 6:45 pm - Weigh-ins at the Gastropub Volleyball Complex (only for 8U-14U, Senior and Masters divisions)

6:30 pm – 8:00 p.m. – Open sand for practice and warmup, plus rules demonstration

8:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. – Competition and awards

Note:"Exhibition" bouts for any local 16U/Junior Wrestlers who wish to attend and participate but cannot or do not wish to participate Sunday or Thursday during the official 16U/Jr. Competition.
