The U.S. Greco-Roman team that will compete at the Pan American Senior Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina, May 3-4 has been set with the conclusion of the U.S. Open in men’s freestyle in Las Vegas, Nev. on Thursday night.

The United States did not win any medals at the 2022 Senior World Championships in Greco-Roman. Based upon approved USA Wrestling Team Selection Criteria, all 10 Pan American Championships team members were determined at the U.S. Senior Open. The Greco-Roman competition at the Pan American Championships will be May 3-4.

The U.S. team will feature seven of the 10 athletes who won U.S. Open titles in Greco-Roman on Thursday night.

The team will include five athletes who are past U.S. Senior World Team members: Dalton Roberts (60 kg), Kamal Bey (77 kg), Spencer Woods (82 kg), Alan Vera (87 kg) and Josef Rau (97 kg)..

Two of the first-time U.S. Open champions, who have also not been on a Senior World Team, will wrestle at the Pan American Championships, Robert Perez III (67 kg) and Justus Scott (72 kg).

Also competing on the U.S. Pan American team will be 2023 U.S. Open runner-up Dalton Duffield (55 kg).

The USA will not send an athlete at 63 kg. Due to the lack of entries from among the Pan American nations at this weight class, United World Wrestling will not host a 63 kg bracket in Greco-Roman at the 2023 Pan American Championships. The United States was one of the nations which registered to compete at 63 kg in Buenos Aires, and as such, will have met the UWW requirements to enter an athlete at this weight class at the 2023 Senior World Championships.

None of the U.S. Greco-Roman team members were medalists at the 2022 Pan American Championships in Mexico.

The Senior Pan American Championships will be followed on May 7-8 with the first UWW Beach World Series event. The United States will field a team of men and women to compete in the event.

The Senior Pan American Championships and the Beach World Series – Buenos Aires will be broadcast live by FloWrestling. Buenos Aires time is one hour ahead of U.S. Eastern time zone.
