The Boys National High School Recruiting Showcase has moved to a new time of the year and will be a great preview of many of the stars on the national level prior to start of the new scholastic season.
The most recent Boys Recruiting Showcase was held in April of 2022, and many of the top competitors from that tournament are back at the event again this fall, which will be held at Hyvee Hall at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, Iowa, October 28-29.
Returning Showcase champions who are entered include Aiden Gruenenfelder of Wisconsin (106), Mack Mauger of Idaho (113), Jackzen Rairdon of Colorado (120) and Daniel Magayna of Iowa (170).
Returning Showcase runners-up in the field include Dedrick Navarro of Idaho (113), Keyan Hernandez of Montana (120) and LJ Araujo of North Dakota (152).
Throughout the history of the Boys National High School Recruiting Showcase, state high school champions have always been highlighted. For this year’s event, there are at least 64 state champions who will be on display during the weekend. The weight class with the most state champions who have pre-registered is 120 pounds, with 12 state champions expected to compete. These state champions are listed below.
The National High School Recruiting Showcase is intended to be an elite tournament with a restricted field, featuring athletes who college recruiters will be watching closely. Instead of a series of qualifying events which completed the field in the past, the field has been set based upon specific achievement standards. In addition to state champions, Prep National champions and NHSCA placewinners, the field will now also include All-Americans from a variety of USA Wrestling national championship tournaments.
Here are some recent national champion athletes who are included in the field
• Zaiyand Ornelas (NE), 106 pounds, 2022 14U Freestyle champion
• Jayden Rinken (IA), 106 pounds, 2022 Folkstyle Nationals HS Open champion
