U.S. Cadets Casula, Alli, Hutchings win bouts in youth dual meet against Italy on Saturday

Liuzzi Wrestling hosted a friendly dual match Saturday evening featuring the Italian Cadet National team and wrestlers from around the world. The dual was held in an outdoor amphitheater following the Italian Stallion Wrestling Camp at the Santa Caterina resort with several thousand spectators in attendance. The dual was also broadcast on Italian television.
The camp featured over 400 wrestlers from over a dozen nations, many of which will compete later this month at the cadet world championships.
Four wrestlers from the American International Wrestling delegation were selected to compete in the dual. All four wrestlers will compete in the USA Wrestling national championships this week in Fargo, N.D. Winning matches for the USA were Eric Casula (45 kg Greco-Roman), Anwar Alli (65 kg Men’s Freestyle) and Dante Hutchings (80 kg Men’s Freestyle). Also competing was Clare Booe (46 kg Women’s Freestyle).
“It was a productive week of training here in Italy. The American wrestlers had a chance to train with many different partners and make new friendships with wrestlers from around the world,” said Coach Chad Vandiver.
“For most of these young wrestlers, it was their first international trip. This experience provided not only wrestling training, but a unique cultural exchange opportunity. We appreciate Michele Liuzzi and his hospitality,” he said.
