High School National Recruiting Showcase – California Qualifier set for Temecula, March 11-12

USA Wrestling has announced the fifth and final of its five High School National Recruiting Showcase Qualifiers for 2022.


The USA Wrestling High School National Recruiting Showcase – California Qualifier will be held at Temecula Valley High School in Temecula, Calif., March 11-12.

This event, and the entire High School National Recruiting Showcase series, is open only to boys and girls athletes who qualify for the USA Wrestling Junior age division. Wrestlers must have been born September 1, 2002 or after, plus must be enrolled in grades 9-12. Athletes from any state may enter any of the five qualifiers.


The qualifier events will feature top High School boys’ and girls’ wrestlers from around the country. The top six place winners in each weight class in the six qualifiers will earn a spot in the High School National Recruiting Showcase. These events are contested in the style in which athletes will compete in college, boys (folkstyle) and girls (freestyle).


The 2022 High School National Recruiting Showcase for boys will be held at the UNI-Dome on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa, April 1-3. This will be held alongside the annual USA Wrestling Folkstyle National Championships, serving as the elite division for high school boys. For those who don’t qualify for the High School National Recruiting Showcase, there will be a High School Open division of the Folkstyle Nationals.


The 2022 High School National Recruiting Showcase for girls will be held at South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa in Las Vegas, Nev., April 28-29. It will be one of the nine different events held during the week of the Open Wrestling Championships, which includes multiple age-groups and styles. The High School National Recruiting Showcase for girls will be held alongside the U.S. Senior Nationals for women, with their championship finals side-by-side on the raised platform at the South Point.

Pre-registration entry fee is $50 per athlete, and closes on Monday, March 7 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. Late registration online registration costs $65 per athlete, and closes Friday, March 11 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.


Please note that state champions and National Prep champions (any year) who meet the age and grade requirements automatically qualify for the High School National Recruiting Showcase for both boys and girls (They do not need to attend a qualifier). State champions are defined as state association sanctioned state champions for boys, and both state association sanctioned champions and recognized unofficial state champions for girls.


NEW FOR 2022 – Any wrestler who has been a placewinner at the NHSCA High School Nationals (traditionally held in Virginia Beach) any year are eligible to compete at the High School National Recruiting Showcase.

All five qualifiers, as well as the two High School National Recruiting Showcase events, will be broadcast by FloWrestling.


The intent of the series is to provide unrestricted access for every college coach and recruiter to the single-highest concentration of high school talent, with every match available online through host broadcaster FloWrestling.


As with all events on the USA Wrestling national schedule, this series will be conducted following the requirements of the state and local health authorities, as well as using the safety provisions of the USA Wrestling Return to Events Guidelines. USA Wrestling and the local organizers will monitor data and local trends closely leading up to the event.
