Women’s College Open Tournaments from this past weekend: loaded North Central Open plus Nassau Open

Each week as appropriate, USA Wrestling will post the results from women’s college open tournaments from the weekend. Here is this week’s report, with three tournaments held all across the nation.
NORTH CENTRAL OPEN (at North Central College)
Notes: One of the best college women’s tournament of the year, five of the top six teams in the NCAA came together for this mid-season test. Host North Central, ranked No. 2 in the NCAA won the team title due to its depth, ahead of NCAA No. 1 King in second and NCAA No. 4 Augsburg in third. (North Central was without in two-time national champion Yelena Makoyed, who competed in the World Cup for Team USA). It was King with the most individual champions with four: Jessica Corredor (101), Sage Mortimer (109), Samara Chavez (116) and Ana Luciano (143). Augsburg finished with three champions, Blanche `Nina` Kemu Makem (136), Marlynne Deede (155) and Ashley Lekas (170). Other individual champions were Amani Jones of North Central (123), Alexis Janiak of Aurora (130) and Sydnee Kimber of McKendree (191). Makem, Luciano, Deede and Kimber are all ranked No. 1 individual within the NCAA.

NCAA No. 16 New Jersey City had a pair of champions, Naomi Henry (123) and Sandra Guerrero (191). The club program from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology had two champions, Viveca Pannell (136) and Veloria Pannell (143).
