Beach Wrestling is growing in popularity and prestige worldwide and provides an intense and competitive environment as well as a fun day on the beach. There were entries in 44 different states at the 2021 U.S. Beach Nationals, which was held in Jacksonville, N.C.
This event serves as a qualifier for U.S. Senior athletes who wish to compete in one of the five 2022 UWW Beach World Series events in Europe. Stops on the Beach Worlds Series this year include Turkey, Spain, France, Greece and Romania. (see 2022 Beach World Series schedule below)
The U.S. Beach Nationals is also a qualifier for U.S. athletes seeking to wrestle at the 2022 U17 and U20 Beach World Championships, set for Constanta, Romania, September 23-24. In 2021, the United States sent its largest delegation of age-group athletes ever to the Beach World Championships.
This year’s U.S. Beach Nationals will be the first event of the soon-to-be-announced 2022 U.S. Beach Tour of America, which will feature selected state- and local-level USA Wrestling sanctioned Beach competitions held across the nation.
This will be the eighth time that Carolina Beach, N.C. has hosted the U.S. Beach Nationals. It has a great oceanside location, with a boardwalk and numerous restaurants and attractions right near the competition rings. It is a great way for a family or a wrestling club, to enjoy this beach community while getting some great wrestling matches.
