Longtime Iowa wrestling publication The Predicament to close down after 50 years of high-quality coverage

by Gary Abbott, USA Wrestling

A major voice within wrestling for a half-century will close down, as the respected publication The Predicament, will cease to publish. This publication has covered our sport in wrestling-crazy Iowa, helping promote and build the sport at all levels.

This message was posted on the Predicament’s social media channels yesterday.

News about The Predicament!

The following information is a difficult task, but via Facebook and Twitter, the many supporters of Iowa amateur wrestling can receive notification. The owner, Wyatt Schultz, passed away August 21, 2021. His final wishes regarding the publication were that it would cease if something were to happen to him. The website will be discontinued after the end of October. The Predicament name and logos are trademarked.

The Predicament has been the conservative voice of wrestling in Iowa for 50 years. Wyatt was the final owner, and his support and love for the young people and the many families and individuals involved in Iowa amateur wrestling was ever present. His contributions and influence went far beyond the wrestling mat… building The Predicament “brand” was at the bottom of his priorities, building up the kids and relationships was at the top.

Wyatt’s ever present smile and joy in life and living will long be fondly remembered. Stories will be told and the laughter will be the best part! Wyatt would want things to continue to move forward! His favorite moniker was… Let’s Keep Wrestling on the Move!!!

The Predicament website is still available, for those who would like to see the kind of great coverage which this publication has provided the wrestling community.
