NCAA No. 2 King women leads NCAA No. 1 McKendree after day one of loaded Missouri Valley Open

MARSHALL, Mo. – The semifinals have been set in the highly-respected Missouri Valley Open, a 38-team open tournament featuring many of the nation’s best women’s college programs from both the NCAA and the NAIA.
After day one, NCAA No. 2 King University leads in the team race with 142 points, slightly ahead of defending NCWWC champion and NCAA No. 1 McKendree University with 140.5 points. Rounding out the top five are NCAA No. 7 North Central with 117.5 points, NAIA No. 5 Texas Wesleyan with 103 points and NAIA No. 4 Grand View with 98.5 points.
King pushed six into the semifinals:Sage Mortimer (116), Vayle-Rae Baker (123), Cheyenne Sisenstein (123), Phoenix Dubose (130), Ana Luciano (136) and Nia Crosdale (191).
McKendree also has six in the semifinals: Aliyah Rollins (116), Cameron Guerin (130), Alara Boyd (155) , Kayla Marano (155), Joye Levendusky (170) and Jaycee Foeller (191).
The event features 16 of the top 20 NAIA program, including the entire top 11 teams in the preseason rankings. Four of the top 10 NCAA teams are in the draw, including the top two teams. There is also an NJCAA team in the competition.
Many believe this may be the best college open tournament of the year in women’s wrestling, except for the national championships in each division.
