In his eight seasons with Purdue, Ersland has built the program into a national power, sending 45 wrestlers to the NCAA Championships and placing numerous athletes at the Big Ten Championships. Prior to Purdue, Ersland was an assistant coach at Nebraska, Northwestern and Northern Illinois, plus a stint with the Cyclone Wrestling Club. He competed for Dan Gable at Iowa and was on three NCAA champion teams.
