No. 1 McKendree women lead No. 2 King in team race after semifinals at NCWWC Nationals in Tiffin

TIFFIN, Ohio - Defending champion and No. 1 ranked McKendree pushed eight athletes into the finals to take the lead in the team race at the National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships (NCWWC) for NCAA women’s wrestling programs at Tiffin University on Saturday.


McKendree lead No. 2 King by 19.5 points as the semifinals concluded. Consolation rounds continue as this story is being posted.


McKendree’s finalists are Pauline Granados (101), Felicity Taylor (116), Cameron Guerin (130), Brenda Reyna (136), Emma Bruntil (143), Alara Boyd (155), Joye Levendusky (170) and Sydnee Kimber (191).


King will be represented in the finals by five wrestlers: Aleeah Gould (109), Cheyenne Sisenstein (123), Ana Luciano (136), Ashlynn Ortega (143) and Tavi Heidelberg-Tollson (191)


All four returning NCWWC national champions Pauline Granados of McKendree (101), Emily Shilson of Augsburg (109), Emma Bruntil of McKendree (136) and Sydnee Kimber of McKendree (191) have reached the finals.


The top athlete in each weight class who has not already qualified will advance to the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Wrestling in Fort Worth, Texas, April 2-3.
