Match of the Day: Mallory Velte defeats Jennifer Page after epic run through the 2017 World Team Trials

Mallory Velte took down a brutal field en route to her making her first World Team in 2017. In the opening round, she bested Forrest Molinari, now a two-time World fifth-place finisher (2018, 2019), 6-2. She followed it up with a, 2-1, win over three-time World Team member Jenna Burkert (2014, 2018, 2019). In the finals, Velte squared off with top-seeded Jennifer Page, a Junior World bronze medalist and Pan Am champion.
Velte went on to finish 14th at the World Championships in Paris, France. The following year, she took bronze at the Budapest, Hungary World Championships.
