Ava Guilmette named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week

Ava Guilmette (Bristol, Conn./Wyoming Seminary) has been selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week on March 28.
Guilmette, a 13-year-old sixth grader, won the 54 kg gold medal in the U15 age group at the Tallinn Open in Tallinn, Estonia on March 26.
Guilmette won six straight matches, three by fall and three by technical fall. She outscored her opponents 51-0 in the six matches. Her finals victory was a 10-0 technical fall over Miranda Kapanadze of Georgia, 10-0.
In addition, on March 24, Guilmette scored a 10-0 technical fall over Darja Jeremejeva of Estonia in a 54 kg U15 match, as part of the Wyoming Seminary victory over Team Europe in an all-star dual meet in Tallinn, Estonia.
Guilmette won the 12U Girls national title at both the 2021 and 2022 USA Wrestling Women’s Nationals. She was a 9U national champion at the 2019 USA Wrestling Women’s Nationals. She was also a champion at the 2018 USA Wrestling Preseason Nationals in the 10 and under weight class.
