Macey Kilty (Chapel Hill, N.C./TarHeel WC/Sunkist Kids) has been selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week on Feb. 16, 2021.

Kilty, a Cadet World champion and three-time age-group World silver medalist, solidified herself as a threat for the 2021 Olympic Team at 62 kg with an impressive performance at the Captains’ Cup this weekend in Iowa.

Representing Team Jacarra at the women’s freestyle dual event, Kilty went 3-0, beating some of the country’s biggest names. In her first match, Kilty took down 2018 Senior World bronze medalist Mallory Velte with a dominant 11-0 technical fall. She followed it up with a 10-0 tech against Final X runner-up Julia Salata. And finally, Kilty nearly pinned 2020 U23 National champion and 2020 Senior Nationals runner-up Xochitl Mota-Pettis, but she had to settle for a 10-0 win.

Overall, Kilty outscored her competition 31-0 and helped her squad to a second-place finish at the historic event.

Each week USA Wrestling will select an Athlete of the Week based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling from youth programs through the senior level. Twitter fan votes also play a part in decision.

To nominate a wrestler for this honor please send the athlete's name, wrestling program, weekly accomplishments and career accolades to USA Wrestling Manager of Communications Taylor Miller at tmiller@usawrestling.org.
