Bleich (12U), Mannello (14U) Take Boys Outstanding Wrestler Honors at Kids Folkstyle Nationals

Kaiden Galiendez and Bleich captured their second straight Kids Folkstyle National Championships in the 12U division. Galiendez earned a 7-5 decision at 74 pounds, and Bleich pinned his way to the title just 52 seconds into the 82-pound championship bout.

Along with Bleich, Benito Delgado and Jaguar Madyun won via fall in the finals. Delgado flipped a 3-0 deficit into a victory 1:22 into his match at 108 pounds. In the next bout at 117 pounds, Madyun pinned his opponent in 1:27.

Leyton Boyd, Graham Dyson and John Cambra all won by technical fall in the finals to capture their national titles. At 160 pounds, Tripp Kinnison finished off a perfect round robin tournament with a 17-0 technical fall to capture his Kids Folkstyle National Championship.

Three-time Triple Crown winner Korbin Kiessling won the first leg of this year’s Triple Crown with a 10-0 major decision victory in the 84-pound championship match. Anze Williams captured a Kids Folkstyle National Championship for the second-straight season following a 9-4 decision at 110 pounds.

The 14U Boys division had the flair for the dramatic throughout the finals. At 155 pounds, trailing 10-2 late in the third period, Cragen Smith pinned his opponent with 32 seconds left in the match to win his second-straight national title. In the 96-pound weight class, Jon Luke Austin earned a takedown in the final second of the match to turn a 5-4 disadvantage into an 8-5 victory. In total, the 14U finals featured nine results via decision, with four being decided within three points.

Day two of the Kids Folkstyle Nationals resumes tomorrow from the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. 8U and 10U Boys action begins at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
