Leyba (12U), Williams (14U) Collect Girls Outstanding Wrestler Accolades at Kids Folkstyle Nationals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Brinley Leyba (12U) and Mia Williams (14U) highlighted day one of the 2026 USA Wrestling Kids Folkstyle Nationals as Girls Outstanding Wrestlers.
Leyba captured Outstanding Wrestler honors following a 3-0 record at 75 pounds. She started her tournament with a fall 2:23 into the match, then collected a 9-0 major decision in the semifinals. Leyba capped off the day by shutting out her opponent in the championship match and won a 7-0 decision.
Williams roared through the 105-pound weight class in the 14U division, not allowing a point throughout the tournament. Williams earned back-to-back major decisions, 10-0 and 13-0, to start her day. In the semifinals, she won a sudden victory contest, 7-0. For the national championship, Williams pinned her opponent 3:45 into the match while holding a 6-0 advantage.
12U Girls Notes
Oakley Waitkus, Bristol Pope, Adison Schlotfeld and Heavyn Woods are now one victory away from the Triple Crown following victories on Saturday. The quartet collected wins at the 2025 Brian Kreck Preseason Nationals to start the girls’ Triple Crown events. The final event for the Girls Triple Crown will be the 2026 USA Wrestling Women’s National Championships in April.
Eight weight classes in the division were won via pins by Waitkus (59 pounds), Mia Carmela Barro (69), Pope (81), Adriana Ragona (87), Maisyn Lott (102) and Emery Merlos (112). At 126 pounds, Woods won her two matches in the best-of-three by pin. In the 140-pound weight class, Skylar Morgan won her second match with a pin after winning the opening contest in a 1-0 decision.
14U Girls Notes
Following decision victories in the 95-pound and 115-pound title matches, Regan Kinneman and Melissa Gallo are one step away from their first career Triple Crowns. Kinneman won 3-0 and Gallo earned a 4-1 victory.
Along with Williams’ pin at 105 pounds, seven other wrestlers sealed their Kids Folkstyle National Championships with pins in the 14U Girls division. Emma Mantei (125 pounds), Jade Adkins (130), Lily Blakesley (140) and Melody Green (165-180) all capped off their deciding round robin contests with falls. In championship matches, Jaelyn Anderson (90) and Addison Neal (110) posted pins in the second period, with Harper Schwettman (120) pinning her championship counterpart in the opening stanza.
