Bommarito pins for gold, Irons finds bronze at Beach World Series Finals in Alexandria, Egypt

ALEXANDRIA, Egypt – The 2025 UWW Beach Wrestling World Series Finals concluded with Michigan native Eliana Bommarito pinning in the gold medal match to secure the event win, plus her third-straight Beach World Series season title.


It was a five-win outing on the sands of Radisson Blu Hotel for Bommarito this weekend. She commanded the +70 kg women’s beach division with four early stoppages, including a 50-second pin over Ukraine’s Iryna Pasichnyk in the finals. He toughest test came in the group round, edging Samar Hamza of Egypt, 2-2. Hamza is two-time Senior World medalist in women’s freestyle.


At the end of the 2025 Beach World Series, Bommarito finished with four event medals, two gold and two bronze. Her first gold of the tour also came in Africa, at the Casablanca, Morocco, stop. She entered Alexandria as the No. 1 ranked wrestler in the +70 kg division and backed it up.


Joining Bommarito on the medal stand was No. 15 ranked Jabari Irons at 90 kg on the men’s beach side. Irons scored a bronze medal with a 3-2 record, notably pinning Tariel Gaphrindashvili of Georgia 37-seconds into the bronze medal bout. The bronze is Irons’ second medal of the season. He secured a silver in Casablanca.

 

Three more Americans picked up individual match wins but were unable to walk away with a medal in Alexandria.


In the men’s beach division, Justin Benjamin finished 2-1 at 70 kg to take fifth place, and Kyle Ferriter went 1-2 to fall into seventh place at +90 kg. Benjamin was ranked No. 6 in his weight coming into the event. Ferriter entered ranked No. 5 in his weight and was a bronze medalist in last year’s Beach World Series.


Valerie Carreon wrapped up a fifth-place effort at 50 kg on the women’s side with a 1-2 record. Her singular win came against fellow American Leila Rosas, 3-0.


On the team front, the U.S. women impressed on its way to a second-place finish with 45 team points. The U.S. men also brought in a notable team ranking, placing fourth overall with 33 points.
