A team of five experienced U.S. Beach wrestling athletes will compete at the second stop of the 2025 UWW Beach World Series, when Beach World Series Porec is held at Plava Laguna in Porec, Croatia, May 31 – June 1.

Three of the wrestlers competing in Porec reached medal matches in their weight classes at the first Beach World Series event of the year in Monterrey, Mexico, May 12-13.

Justin Benjamin of Illinois became the first U.S. men’s Beach wrestler to win a second career Beach World Series medal when he claimed the silver medal at 70 kg in Monterrey. His first medal came at the 2024 Beach World Series Acapulco, in Mexico, when he won the 70 kg title, the first and only U.S. man to win a Beach World Series gold medal. Benjamin placed fourth in the final standings at 70 kg during the 2024 Beach World Series.

Eliana Bommarito of Michigan claimed a bronze medal at Over 70 kg at Beach World Series Monterrey. It was her seventh career Beach World Series medal, with the other six medals all being gold medals. Bommarito is the only U.S. athlete of either gender to win a Senior Beach World Series World title, claiming the No. 1 spot at Over 70 kg in both 2023 and 2024.

Kyle Ferriter of Colorado placed a strong fourth at the Over 90 kg weight class at Beach World Series Monterrey. Ferriter won a 2024 Beach World Series bronze medal, after placing third in points scored in the Beach World Series standings at his weight class last year. He also won a bronze medal at the Beach World Series Saint Laurent du Var in France in 2024.

By placing in the top four of their weight class in Monterrey, Benjamin, Bommarito and Ferriter earned a spot on the U.S. Senior Beach Team which will compete in the Beach World Series Final in Alexandria, Egypt, October 18-19, which is the fifth and final stop on this year’s Beach World Series. The Beach World Series Final is the highest-point scoring event of the series each season.

Also competing in Porec will be Roderick Love of Illinois, who placed seventh at 80 kg at Beach World Series Monterrey. Love placed 10th in his weight class in the final standings at 80 kg in the 2024 Beach World Series.

Competing in her first Senior Beach World Series event of the year in Porec is Sadie Evans of Washington, who placed second at 70 kg in the 2025 U.S. Beach National Championships in Carolina Beach, N.C. in early May. Evans won a bronze medal at 70 kg at the 2025 U17 Beach World Championships.

Benjamin, Bommarito, Ferriter and Love will be looking to add valuable points to their ranking total for this year’s Beach World Series, while Evans will be seeking to have a great start in her ranking with a strong finish in Porec.

The U.S. team will be coached by Tim Box of Oceanside, Calif., who has led the U.S. Beach World Series effort in the past few seasons.

Porec is six hours ahead of U.S. Eastern time zone. All of the action will be broadcast live on FloWrestling.

Beach World Series Porec will be held two days after the conclusion of the 2025 European U15, U17 and U20 Beach Championships at the same venue.
