Kevin Pine (Henderson, Nev./Las Vegas WC) has been named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week, presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare, on October 15, 2025.
The Nevada native doubled up on medals for Team USA at the 2025 Veteran World Championships held last week at Tatabanya Sport Hall in Tatabanya, Hungary. Competing at 88 kg in Division E, Pine earned a gold medal in Greco-Roman and a bronze medal in freestyle.
Pine’s week started with the freestyle competition, where he posted a 3-1 record on his way to bronze. He opened with a pair of nice wins—12-2 over Munko Bazarov of UWW and 7-0 over Hassan Fattahi of Iran—before dropping his semifinal against eventual champion Imre Lukacs of Hungary, 6-0. He rebounded with a 4-2 win over Alexandr Chsherbakov of Kazakhstan in the bronze medal match.
Moving over to the Greco-Roman side three days later, Pine went a perfect 3-0 with a pin in 1:07 over Krasimir Ganev of Bulgaria, an 8-0 technical fall over Valiko Makharadze of Kazakhstan and a 6-3 decision against Tomas Brezny of Czechia in the gold medal final.
Pine was the defending World champion in his freestyle bracket and was a critical component to the U.S. team winning its fifth-straight freestyle team title at the event.
Pine has won 17 U.S. national titles in the Veterans or Masters divisions dating back to 2008, 10 in freestyle and seven in Greco-Roman.
