Marcus Blaze named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week, presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare

Marcus Blaze (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg WC/Titan Mercury WC) has been named the USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week, presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare, on June 4, 2025.
Last weekend, Blaze competed in Geneva, Ohio, at the 2025 U20 World Team Trials. He won the title at 61 kg, making his second U20 World Team and third age-group World Team overall.
Blaze advanced through the challenge tournament with four decisive wins, including three 10-0 technical falls. In the finals, Blaze faced U.S. Open U20 Nationals champion and 2022 U17 World Team member Kyler Larkin in a best-of-three series for the U20 World Team spot.
In round one, Blaze secured a 10-0 technical fall. Round two of the series ended with a 4-1 decision in Blaze’s favor.
Blaze was a U17 World champion in 2023, and won bronze at the U20 World Championships in Pontevedra, Spain in 2024.
Blaze was the only champion of the U20 World Team Trials that wrestled through the entire tournament on Saturday in Geneva, Ohio.
On June 14, Blaze will take part in 2025 Final X at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Blaze is set to compete against 2023 U23 World bronze medalist Brock Hardy in the 65 kg true-third match with the goal of making his second U.S. Senior National Team.
