Women’s College Opens over weekend: Grand View Open, RMAC, D3 Invite and Bobcat Open

Each week as appropriate, USA Wrestling will post the results from women’s college open tournaments from the weekend.
This week, there were four tough competitions as teams begin to prepare for the post-season: the Grand View Open at Grand View University, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships at Regis University, the D3 Invitational hosted by Augustana College at the Bend XPO Center in East Moline, Ill., and the Bobcat Open at Frostburg State.
GRAND VIEW OPEN
At Des Moines, Iowa, Feb. 3, 2024
Summary: NAIA No. 1 Menlo College had the most individual champions at the respected Grand View Open with three: Kayla McKinley-Johnson (101), Kalila Shrive (170) and Tavia Heidelberg-Tillotson (191). NCAA No. 2 Iowa had a pair of champions, Felicity Taylor (116) and Bella Mir (155). Three other college programs had an individual champion, Lexi Miller of NJCAA No. 5 Carl Albert State College (109), Krista Warren of NAIA No. 4 Grand View (143) and Eliana Bommarito of NJCAA No. 1 Indian Hills CC (235). The other three champions included two Senior level stars, and an elite high school star. Past Senior National Team members Alex Hedrick of the Titan Mercury WC (130) and Xochitl Mota Pettis of Rise RTC (136). Age-group World team member Karlee Brooks of the Elite Accelerator Program (123) was the other champion.

RMAC Women's Championships

Summary: In the first NCAA Div. II conference championship meet ever held, NCAA No. 5 Colorado Mesa dominated the tournament with six individual champions: Jennesis Martinez (101), Isabella Morales (109), Kiely Tabaldo (116), Hania Halverson (123), Dalia Garibay (155) and Caylee Collins (170). NCAA No. 6 Simon Fraser had three champions: Marquesis Haintz (130), Jade Trolland (136) and Julia Richey (191). The other individual champion was Lianna Fernandez of Adams State (143). No team scores were kept, as the conference title was determined by dual meets.

Summary: In a 23-team tournament of NCAA Div. III programs, NCAA No. 1 North Central, with a majority of its starters not in the lineup, won the D3 National Invitational in East Moline, Ill. with 232 points. NCAA No. 15 UW-Stevens Point was second with 182 points with NCAA No. 22 Schreiner in third with 113.5 points. North Central had five individual champions: Janessa George (116), Asia Nguyen-Smith (123), Alondra Morales (136), Kendall Bostelman (143) and Dasia Yearby (235). Stevens-Point was the only other team with more than one champion, with Ngao Shoua Whitethorn (130) and Jade Herzer (170) winning gold. Summary: NCAA No. 3 King was the dominant team at the Bobcat Open at Frostburg State, coming home with six individual champions: Jessica Corredor (101), Danielle Garcia (109), Melanie Mendoza (116), Virginia Foard (123), Claire DiCugno (136) and Cheyenne Bowman (155). NCAA No. 15 Presbyterian had a pair of champions, Maddie Kubicki (143) and Ella Beam (191). The other college champion was Love Daley of NCAA No. 7 Sacred Heart (170).
