by USA Wrestling
Ramazan Attasauov capped off an impressive run at the U23 Nationals with a big pin in the finals. Attasauov, a redshirt freshman at Iowa State, opened the tournament with wins over NCAA qualifiers Nicolas Aguilar of Rutgers and Luke Werner of Lock Haven. In the quarterfinals, he downed Princeton All-American Pat Glory, and he followed it up with a semifinal victory over Michigan State All-American Rayvon Foley.
Attasauov squared off with South Dakota State’s Danny Vega in the finals. After falling behind 6-0 early in the match, Attasauov rallied to even the score at 6, before cranking Vega over for the fall.
