#GrecoMonday: Greco United announces Capital Cup 67 kg dual tournament scheduled for February 26-27

STERLING, Va. – Greco United, alongside Top of the Podium, the New York Athletic Club and the United States Greco Roman Innovation Team, led by Gary Mayabb, is thrilled to announce the inaugural Capitol Cup, a dual style mini-tournament scheduled for February 26-27. The event will feature some of the nation’s top Greco-Roman athletes, select men’s and women’s freestyle bouts and women’s Greco-Roman matches.
The main event will consist of four dual teams comprised of the nation’s leading Greco-Roman Athletes at the 67 kg weight class, fighting to be crowned Capitol Cup champions.
Some notable athletes slated to compete include 2008 World champion Joe Warren, 2020 Senior Nationals champion Benji Peak, 63 kg National Team member Sammy Jones and a mix of Greco veterans and rising stars such as Calvin Germinaro, Anthony Abidin, Logan Savvy and Jessy Williams.
The co-main event will consist of select women's Greco-Roman matches. The co-main event is headed by 1996 Olympian Derrick Waldroup and RISE RTC. This portion of the event is meant to create more opportunities for female wrestlers to showcase their Greco-Roman skills and talents.
The undercard will include select men’s and women’s freestyle matches and Greco-Roman matches in various weight classes.
More information will be available closer to the event, including individual matchups and how to access the live stream, which will be available for $10 donations with all proceeds going to benefit the athletes competing.
