Match of the Day: Jessica Medina wins her third U.S. Open title over Haley Augello

Jessica Medina, a two-time Senior World Team member for the USA and a 2006 Junior World bronze medalist, is currently USA Wrestling’s National Women’s Developmental Coach. Medina competed at the national and international level for more than a decade before turning her attention to her coaching career.
A veteran at this stage of her career, Medina met young star Haley Augello in the finals of the 2013 U.S. Open at 51 kg. Augello was a 2011 Cadet World champion, member of the 2012 Junior World Team and completing her high school career in Illinois. She was seventh in the 2012 U.S. Open, and had a great tournament in order to reach her first Senior Nationals finals. Augello, who recently retired from competition, later became a 2016 Olympian.
Their 2013 U.S. Open battle went the full three periods, when the rules required that an athlete win two of the three periods in the match. Check it out below:
