Yesterday, the Southeast RTC announced the addition of Nahshon Garrett as a resident athlete. Garrett, a four-time All-American and NCAA champ for Cornell, made the 2018 Senior World Team at 61 kg but was unable to compete due to injury. To make the team, Garrett bested Joe Colon in a three-match series at Final X. Colon went on to win bronze at the World Championships.

The Southeast RTC, which is affiliated with Virginia Tech, has brought in numerous high-level athletes recently including two-time World medalist James Green and three-time Women’s Freestyle World Team member Jenna Burkert. Other Southeast RTC wrestlers include 2017 U23 World bronze medalist and current 97 kg National Team member Ty Walz and four-time All-American and NCAA champion Cody Brewer, who serves as an assistant coach for the Hokies.

While Garrett competed at The 2019 Bill Farrell International and the 2019 Senior Nationals at 57 kg, placing fourth and sixth, he recently commented that he is considering moving up to 65 kg for his Olympic run.
