Wisconsin RTC Underground 1 card on Nov. 24: Gross v Meredith; Dow v Provisor, Heaton v Guerin and more

The Wisconsin Regional Training Center Underground 1 card, set for November 24, is shaping up, with top competition in all three Olympic disciplines on display. The event starts at 5:00 p.m. Central time only on Rokfin.
In men’s freestyle, one of the headliners is Wisconsin RTC star and past NCAA champion Seth Gross battling NCAA finalist Bryce Meredith. These two met while in college in what the Wisconsin RTC calls “the original super match.” Gross decided to move up a weight to compete against Meredith in a dual meet when they were both ranked No. 1 in the nation, a major story at the time. Gross has qualified for the Olympic Trials at 57 kg, while Meredith is making his run at 65 kg.
In Greco-Roman, with two-time Olympian Ben Provisor (a native of Wisconsin) going against current Wisconsin student-athlete and 2018 Junior World Team member Tyler Dow. Provisor has also competed at the Senior World Championships and two Junior World Championships. Dow is a redshirt sophomore for Wisconsin, and boasts numerous age-group national titles and All-American finishes.
In women’s freestyle, 2015 Cadet World champion Ronna Heaton, who trains with the Wisconsin RTC, will battle two-time Junior World Team member Cameron Guerin, currently a freshman at McKendree University. Heaton, who also a 2016 Cadet World silver medalist, has made four U.S. age-group World Teams. Guerin boasts two Pan American titles, one as a Cadet and another as a Junior.
A number of the other matchups include current athletes on the University of Wisconsin roster.
Trent Hillger, a redshirt senior at Wisconsin, will battle former North Carolina and Oklahoma wrestler Danny Chaid in a heavyweight bout. Hillger was a 2019 All-American for the Badgers. He was seeded sixth at the 2020 NCAA Championships before it was cancelled, and was later named NWCA All-American. Chaid competes for the California RTC, was fifth at the 2020 Senior Nationals, while placed fourth at the 2020 Senior Nationals. Hillger beat Chaid by fall in the Senior Nationals consolation semifinals at Senior Nationals.
Seth Vosters, a redshirt senior for Wisconsin, will battle Ryan Epps, an NWCA Div. III All-American for Augsburg.
Aiden Medora, a freshman at Wisconsin, is matched up with Brady Gross, who competes for Augsburg.
Kyle Burwick, a redshirt freshman at Wisconsin, squares off with Augsburg freshman Charlie Pickell.
Joe Zargo, who wrestled in high school for New Jersey powerhouse Bergen Catholic, will face Hunter Lewis, a Wisconsin native and redshirt freshman at NC State.
Organizers indicate that three other bouts are expected to be announced, including more current Wisconsin athletes, as well as another women’s freestyle match.
