In 2019, for the second-straight year, Ryan Mango and Sammy Jones clashed in the finals of the U.S. Open, and for the second-straight year, Mango brought home a title.
Locked at 1-1 in the second period, Jones was put down for passivity, giving Mango the opportunity to work from par terre. It was all Mango needed to blow the match wide open.
Mango was the 2019 World Team member at 63 kg and placed seventh at the World Championships in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan. In college, he was a two-time All-American for Stanford. Jones, who wrestled collegiately at Northern Michigan, is currently No. 3 on the National Team at 63 kg and took bronze at the 2014 University World Championships.
