NSAA Board of Directors approve Girls Wrestling as an emerging sport in Nebraska high schools

The Board of Directors of the Nebraska State Athletic Association (NSAA) has added Girls Wrestling as an emerging sport in Nebraska high schools.
On Thursday, the NSAA posted this tweet:
The NSAA Board of Directors voted 7-1 to add Girls Wrestling as an emerging sport.
With this decision, Nebraska becomes the 23rd state to add Girls Wrestling as a sanctioned sport, an emerging sport, or has started the process to becoming a sanctioned sport.
The NSAA organization has not yet made Girls Wrestling sanctioned at this time. The time frame that Girls wrestling is an emerging sport is three years, but it could become officially sanctioned at any time during that period by a vote of the NSAA.
The girls state wrestling championships will continue to be hosted by the Nebraska Scholastic Wrestling Coaches Association, which hosted the successful first girls state high school championships in 2020.
Wrestling is one of the fastest growing sports for girls in the United States. USA Wrestling's efforts to grow girls high school wrestling is led by its Girls High School Development Committee, co-chaired by Joan Fulp and Andrea Yamamoto. They work closely with Wrestle Like A Girl, the NWCA and other organizations in the effort to build and grow wrestling opportunities for girls.
