Before becoming four-time All-Americans at Oklahoma State and Minnesota respectively, Alex Dieringer and Dylan Ness were high school rivals. In 2010, they clashed in the both the Fargo Junior freestyle finals and the Junior Folkstyle National finals.

At Oklahoma State, Dieringer became a three-time NCAA champ and one-time third-place finisher. While at Minnesota, Ness was a two-time NCAA finalist and also finished fourth and sixth. In 2014, the pair actually met in the 157 pound NCAA finals, with Dieringer emerging victorious.

Dieringer, a 2013 Junior World silver medalist, is a four-time National Team member and is currently ranked No. 2 at 79 kg. He will be looking to make an Olympic Team at 86 kg. Ness is also still competing in men’s freestyle at the 74 kg weight class.
