Led by five champions, Campbell repeats as SoCon team champions, with Appalachian State in second

BOONE, N.C. – Led by five individual champions, Campbell repeated as Southern Conference champions with a strong performance at Appalachian State on Sunday.
Champions for Cary Kolat’s Camels were Korbin Meink (125), Noah Gosner (133), Joshua Heil (141), Quentin Perez (165) and Andrew Morgan (184).
Meink and Heil won SoCon titles for the second straight year. Heil was a champion at 149 last year, but dropped to 141 for this season.
Host Appalachian State placed second, 15 points behind Campbell. JonMark Bentley’s team had four individual champions: Jonathan Millner (149), Matt Zovistoski (157), Demazio Samuel (197) and Cary Miller (286)
Miller repeated as SoCon heavyweight champion, defeating Jere Heino of Campbell, 5-3 in sudden victory overtime. Heino is higher ranked nationally, and also beat Miller in their dual meet showdown a few weeks ago.
Repeating as SoCon champion at 174 was Neil Richards of VMI.
The SoCon has 14 automatic qualifiers for the NCAA Championships.
