Match of the Day: Kelsey Campbell makes her ninth National Team at the 2019 World Team Trials Challenge Tournament
by USA Wrestling
Kelsey Campbell has consistently been one of the top women’s freestyle wrestlers in the country for the past decade. Her track record proves it.
A 2012 Olympian, 2016 Olympic Trials champion and two-time World Team member (2010 and 2011), Campbell made her ninth National Team at the 2019 World Team Trials Challenge Tournament in Raleigh, N.C.
After losing in the semifinals to the No. 1 seed and eventual 2019 World Team member Jenna Burkert, Campbell battled her way through the consolation bracket to the true second match. There, she would face the No. 2 seed Arian Carpio with the No. 3 spot on the National Team on the line.
Carpio, a 2019 U23 World Team member, fell to Burkert, two matches to none, in the Challenge Tournament finals.
